The Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI)® and Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory (ICS)®
With the dismantling of equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts in our institutions and in our personal professional development pursuits, the question, Where do I begin? often arises.
The IDI® is a developmental assessment of intercultural competence which empowers individuals and groups to increase their effectiveness in how they engage cultural differences. This focus on development can be used to facilitate cooperative conversations and actions directed toward growth rather than judgment and resistance.
The ICS® is a wonderful partner to the IDI® as a self assessment and exploratory tool to use within our organizations and institutions as we build capacity to work though communication misunderstandings and conflicts grounded in very different cultural approaches to resolving difficulties with one another.
What we can do together
Imagine.
As we move out of childhood and into adolescence and adulthood, we don’t spend enough time imagining. Often we jump too quickly to the how, and don’t breathe life into the “why?” and the “what if?”.
As an immigrant and daughter of immigrants, that question is further nuanced.
Add to that other commitments, projects and dreams, and the decoupling of our identities from the need to grind.
We will work together on reactivating your imagination as you dream about the world, self, organization you want to bring into existence.
Clarify.
Do you struggle navigating power? Do you question your sense of agency and identity in the spaces you find yourself? You have options and strategies.
I know what it means to feel stuck and not seen and heard. I believe our communities and systems are better when we have the tools and resources to tap into our own innate wisdom. The tools we may have mastered a few years ago have themselves evolved, along with the needs of those who use them. Let’s map out the spaces where your ideas may flourish.
There will be more questions but also more practices as you notice differently and refocus.
Develop.
I believe that by imagining and clarifying you are better able to bridge the space from where you are to where you want to be. Together, we will explore your values, experiences, and beliefs and the places and ideas where you feel activated.
We will prioritize your learning and development so that you can make the moves you believe are necessary in your life and as you lead in the world.
